WhatsApp for iOS gets a big update; swipe actions, photo captions and more

WhatsApp has finally added a ton of new features all thanks to the big new update v2.11.9 that has started popping up on iOS 7 and 8 devices worldwide. iOS certainly seems to be priority for WhatsApp as the company rolled out the update just a couple of hours away from the launch of the iPhone 6.

The app was clearly a mess for those who were on the beta version of iOS 8 and now thanks to the update, not only is the app finally stable, but also enhances some existing features while adding some new ones for those on iOS 7:

  • You can now archive chats and groups from the inbox area with a swipe to the left (iOS 8 style) and even archive them all at once if you want to via settings

  • Photos and videos can now be captioned although this feature works only on iOS devices and will show up separately on other devices

  • Accessing the camera is now a single tap away

  • You can now share all those slow motion videos from your iPhone 5s as well

  • Video trimming is also now available for iOS

  • Locations can now be shared precisely and you dont need to tag the nearest establishment anymore

  • Moreover iOS now gets support for satellite and hybrid maps as well
Apart from the above there are new options for media auto-download, wallpapers and notifications tones as well.
